about

Inspired by the classic mini-albums from bands such as Swans and the Gun Club, Cambuzat utilizes the succinct format of the mini-album to display the different aspects of Ulan Bator, from the propulsive Krautrock drive of “Ephemere”, to the wide-screen of Airplane. Drawing on long time sources of inspiration from Gainsbourg to the 70's rock of Can, “Soleils”, deftly combines haunting pop melody with soaring guitar driven drama. Final track “Tabou” slowly develops from a beautiful lilting ballad into a stunning instrumental rage, it's chord patterns never predictable, but always immediate and affecting as the track continues to build. A stunning closer to the record, Ulan Bator's music remains timeless, and completely contemporary.

ULAN BATOR France

Their first rehearsals sessions happened in a deep, unused chalk-mine in the suburbs of Paris.
This strange location was, step by step, transformed into a "recording studio" where they were to record, compose and produce their first three recordings.
